Lady Liberty

Lady Liberty

On the threshold of Lady Liberty
Ellis Island waits for a rebirth of America
With the patience of a Polish immigrant
Who found sea legs he called freedom shoes
That made the ship a road across the ocean
He walked daily from bow to stern
To keep in shape for the job he lined up
Of delivering all the news that was fit to print
But he had heard that boats were turned back
From what once was a harbor
But his movable highway
Is a rainbow path
