Writer's Block

Your time-worn letters
loath their dove-tailed dreams,
sputtering lead dusted oaths
as filed vows seep
through half forgotten drawers.

Cold oak bleeds the wraith of warmth
where gossomer veils plummet
from curtainous cracks,
courting listless cigarette smoke
as reflections stroke the littered ash
of another smiling frame.

Dry quills draw ink from emptied wells
etching foetid ghosts
where thirsty lines sip stagnant memoirs
from the chipped edge
of another lifetime's broken chalice.

Deadened hopes lie restless,
heaped high
like torn and crumpled pages
ripped from ragged bindings
of a cherished book
long years have left unwritten.

Author's Note
The title is a metaphore for a book left half-written, an untimely demise if you will and some of feeling and memory left behind. Filed vows in dusty drawers and the like. Kind of centered her memory on a writing desk.
