She

She was sitting outside,
the cafe was quiet
feigning interest
in her book
she sipped a small latte
seemingly too shy
to look up
at the passers by

I wondered
what she was reading
if she was waiting for someone
a lover
or perhaps an old school friend
she hadn't seen for years

I notice she has long hair and
she is twirling the ends
in her fingers
toying with them slowly
at the corner of her mouth
it must be delicious

She's seen me staring,
I'm afraid
She's smiling
waving
She wants me to go over
this beautiful girl I've never met
and whose name I don't know
the one I've been missing
for the whole of my life
