Five letter word that should be earned not given
Take your time before calling another your friend
Takes more than a handshake to determine character
With so many marionettes, who's the puppet master
Fatal disasters can happen if it's given too freely
Wolves in sheep clothing; fake friend turned enemy
Even progeny and other family have tendencies of betrayal
Selling you out like you're retail in a going out of business sale

That opening line is true. Trust takes time and effort to earn, like love, it is just as delicate if not fragile to break.
