Beards & Breakdowns
It always starts with a beard -
The breakdown.
After days bleed into weird -
The falling frown.
Realization behind silver
Filaments, crawling
Under the surface layer
Of the lit up mirror.
Precision of vision bright -
Madness is quite
The sight
Tonight.
Gnarly follicles screaming.
Wild hair dreaming.
All seeming -
Freeing.
Like
Detachment adjacent
to
Detachment
Unhinged
Lunatic fringe...
Madness begins -
like death resumes,
In the tombs,
With a beard
That grows.
Author's Note
I looked in the mirror, for the first time in some time, and noticed that I am growing a beard. (not to crucial of a beard, maybe a 6 week beard? I cannot find the trimmers, although I only recently started to look for them.) but it made me think of when I actually had like a full on Rasputin beard. Like, I went for over a year without looking in the mirror or trimming my beard. I kind of liked it, actually; I have a cool looking beard.
Well... Something happened that required a sacrifice, so I cut off my beloved beard and never grew it back.
But yes... I was thinking about how the beard is often associated with the madman, and how, the beard keeps growing, even after you die... That takes me places... hmm...

Thank you Paul. I was born for the strange. :)
(I just asked someone earlier if "it is weird that I don't think anything is weird".)
Your comment is much appreciated.

I adore beards and this poem really hit home for me. I have known/dated many with beards, even before a hipster was a hipster.... lol... There IS absolutely power in a man's beard, hands down without a doubt. I am very certain!! I Loved "Unhinged.. Lunatic fringe" it's kinda brilliant.... and spot on. I think it's like a weird form of a security blanket ( once you get past the itchiness... Lmfao) I love watching the strokes of it, while deep in thought..... gulp...
Mmmm.

I love learning these "peccadilloes" about you. I definitely think there is great power in the hair, in general, aside from the symbolic.
"before a hipster was a hipster". Ahh. the good old days. jk.
I was thinking of actually posting a picture of me with the Rasputin beard, with a piece, perhaps an extension of this one? Perhaps I shall.
Thank you so much Blu.
(Ps I definitely stroked the thing as I was constantly in deep thought;)

Got me jealous
At no point in time has my beard ever fully connected
6 days or 6 months, there's always nekkid spots on my face
Good thing I can grow muscles
Or I'd really have a complex

I think of imperfections as a challenge of perfection, as we make our flaws flawless. That must be the beard talking. :)
You have grown the mind and the body and this inspires me greatly.
Thank you Fatboy. I very much appreciate your comment.

Cipher_O, I think of this as a poem about getting lazy... not shaving, brushing your teeth perhaps, even showering. It's the lack of care for personal hygiene that gives clues to others of a change in disposition.
It strikes me as a conflicted, and/or metamorphic form of Be(I)ng.
I'm well enough btw. I've been watching 'Murder Mountain'. Thanks for mentioning it.

Thank you for your wonderful perspective Pent.
Cool... I have watched the first few episodes. Will probably watch more this weekend. It is quite interesting.
I am rather new to Netflix.
There are some cool documentaries.
Watched the first few episodes of Night Stalker as well (not as much into SK's as I once was.) Still very interesting. In some ways, it is a study in freedom. or perhaps even, a manipulation of freedom, in the sense that we, as people can be heavily influenced by forces we may not even fully believe in or understand, or fully conceive of as "reality" is unfolding. Like the abuse, poverty, drugs, inverted spirituality of Ramirez... and the flash bulb society... and other things...
Just iconic stuff... old world LA...
SK cool...
interesting stuff.
