Wishful Prayers

The headlights in the fog
Seem to be floating slowly
As they zoom past
On the other side of the interstate.
The moon is full
And seems to wink at me
"darling, it's never too late "

Yesterday's tears still permeate
The ground where my knees
Buckled and fell to surrender.
Tonight my car is falling apart
And so am I, in moments...
Fighting an impending bender.

No, demon, you don't define me.
There's a distant sound of crows
Fleeing from a warning shot.
The petals of childlike wishes
Fall wobbly with my turbulent dopamine
Bless me, bless me not,
Bless me, bless me not,
Bless me, bless me not,

Bless me...
