America The Beautiful
America is Beautiful
Regardless of the actions and intentions that created it
America is visually magnificent
Majestic mountains, strong rivers, wide open plains
A land of natural beauty
By virtue of birth I've staked my claim to this land and its promises
By deeds of those who came before me, I demand my place at the table
America Is Beautiful
It's government, a different story
And for that I must bear the blame
I challenge not these weasels and snakes
Therefore I must partake of their shame
I see their greed and shiftiness
Yet say it's not my fault
I hold my tongue as they openly rob
The treasures from the vault
I know they're dirt, yet bury my head
In TV or a book
Caught up in bread and circuses
I barely give a look
My ancestors gaze at me in shame
To their souls they are shook
They scream "Our sacred blood has signed your name"
"Why art thou complicit with these crooks? "
The Preamble wasn't written with me in mind
Neither was the Constitution
Yet those words from 1776 still carry the same weight and responsibility today
I shall not turn from my blood debt
Only thru action comes absolution
My ancients shout at me "Wake Up!!"
"Herein lies your problem's solution"
Amendments 1, 2, 5, 13, and 18 get all the press, but numbers 4, 6, 9, and 10 are the true power for the American people.
The needs of the many do outweigh the needs of the few. And WE THE PEOPLE, are the many.
