Is it Thursday? No, more like a Monday
garbage truck making it’s early rounds
laying in bed, black out curtain dark
eyes not open yet, making no sounds
world waiting for an opening
to invade my gated space
I feel it sitting, staring from the corner
waiting for a sign from my face
two days off sometimes isn’t enough
but it’s the nature of the beast
if you like a roof, walls, food
you’re gonna be the mans weekly feast
the world shifts, restless in the darkness
it senses the alarm is only minutes away
these seconds priceless, still mine
low ball offer is coffee for my day
I counter with bacon and eggs
it demands one open eye, a sign of good faith
alarm shatters darkness, world slowly rotates
deliverance was never my best trait
