Trust - Part II
Buried in the cupboards
Of our imaginations
Those dark little corners of
Tormented fermentation
I only hate myself because
The fact that my afflictions
Were by no destined fate
But of my own choosing
How do we live with the guilt
Of unhealthy decisions?
Will I ever conquer these
Unintentional repetitions?
Until we speak our truths
Face and embrace them
Until we can rise up
Boldly, even brazen
Does the Phoenix not rise
From buried beneath the ashes?
The catch here is, only we can be
The heroin of our own fashion
Who is there left to trust?
Who makes sagacious choices?
Where did all the wisdom go?
Who can decipher these voices?
It’s up to us as individuals to
Reflect on the residual abuse
That lingers in the cobwebs of
Our consciousness collecting dust
When comes the time
For self-responsibility?
For a little accountability
Slips away from me e’ry day
This is the only chance we have
To embrace unity
Among a humane community
So that we may all finally
Come together
From across the ether
And touch our hands
In empathy
For peace and harmony...
I ask, who is there to trust?
