Death of Innocents
I heard the sad news today
Of little children taken away
Forced into residential schools
Run by a bunch of racist fools
Hiding behind God and politics
What they did will make you sick
They shamed and punished the innocent with their rage
Tried to take away their language and heritage
The bodies of children laid forgotten in unmarked graves
1323 and counting
Decades late the light is shown
Evil deeds finally are known
The cost of white man’s ignorance
Was the death of innocents

Stunning poem and I was unaware of this story. "The "cost of white man's ignorance was the death of innocents" shook me as it should.
