Purple Velvet
This world is a testament to power
A monster of energy
Devouring consciousness
Time and time again
He was born with the sun on his hair
And waves in his eyes
Oh good young nymph
Help me remember his name
In case he rides home tonight
Hair to Mycenaean kings
His mother’s shrine
Is now lost in the mist
Memphis has drowned in the mud
And his tale is no more sung
He’s wrapped in velvet
Purple velvet
As he floats down
Down the river
There’s now gold on his eyelids
Weary and tired he sinks like a stone
Wrapped in velvet
Purple velvet
As he goes down
Down the river
All great things must first wear
Terrible and horrifying masks
In order to be inscribed
On the heart of humanity
This world is a testament to power
And nothing in between
A monster of energy
Devouring consciousness
Time and time again
He was born with the sun on his hair
And waves in his eyes
Oh good young nymph
Help me remember his name
In case he rides home tonight
Hair to Mycenaean kings
His mother’s shrine
Is now lost in the mist
Memphis has drowned in the mud
And his tale is no more sung
He’s wrapped in velvet
Purple velvet
As he floats down
Down the river
There’s now gold on his eyelids
Weary and tired he sinks like a stone
Wrapped in velvet
Purple velvet
As he goes down
Down the river
All great things must first wear
Terrible and horrifying masks
In order to be inscribed
On the heart of humanity
This world is a testament to power
And nothing in between
