The Ghost of Townes
Please don't go shinning
Your blue eyes on me
I've enough to be doing
With my own regrets
The ghost of Townes
Was walking with me
Half awake
In the middle of a dream
Sat at my kitchen table
Scribbling down words
I couldn't read
He sang of lost causes
And forgotten days
Letting the best of him
Go slipping away
Things he never wrote
Words he couldn't say
Your blue eyes on me
I've enough to be doing
With my own regrets
The ghost of Townes
Was walking with me
Half awake
In the middle of a dream
Sat at my kitchen table
Scribbling down words
I couldn't read
He sang of lost causes
And forgotten days
Letting the best of him
Go slipping away
Things he never wrote
Words he couldn't say
