Indigo
Come my love
Sit with me as day draws down
And await the freshening of the evening breeze
As day breathes its last faint breath
Almost a sigh
Before slipping into night
Out in the yard
In the stillness
As the fireflies come out
To dance above the clover
Let me read to you Neruda, Rilke
And the poets
As bear such quiet hours well
With words I wish had been my own
Let me read them with my voice
As if they were -
Words you have longed for
And meant for your heart alone
Snuggle in
And while away the hours
As stars appear
And wishes are made in silence
For mine need no telling
As my fingertips trace your face
Your lips
The tree tops long since faded from the last of golden light
To deep shadowed silhouettes
Framing indigo sky
So like kisses
Scattered
Random at the needing
Deepening as kisses do
Your body melting into mine
Sit with me as day draws down
And await the freshening of the evening breeze
As day breathes its last faint breath
Almost a sigh
Before slipping into night
Out in the yard
In the stillness
As the fireflies come out
To dance above the clover
Let me read to you Neruda, Rilke
And the poets
As bear such quiet hours well
With words I wish had been my own
Let me read them with my voice
As if they were -
Words you have longed for
And meant for your heart alone
Snuggle in
And while away the hours
As stars appear
And wishes are made in silence
For mine need no telling
As my fingertips trace your face
Your lips
The tree tops long since faded from the last of golden light
To deep shadowed silhouettes
Framing indigo sky
So like kisses
Scattered
Random at the needing
Deepening as kisses do
Your body melting into mine
