Tears & Smiles

what's the worth of the truth,
when it tears you apart
what's the cost of a lie,
if it lifts your heavy heart

can you measure happiness with smiles?
can you measure sadness with tears?

some lie to adorn a songs
but the emotions are real
brought you to its devotion
let your brokenness heal

you bled your pain screaming your guts out
a relapsing soul addicted to afflatus

music is a drug, and the song is the vessel
voice is the force, and the words are its essence

punch me in my face, let the force hit my core
but sadly no one sings like you anymore

Author's Note
A poem based on the line from Black Hole Sun “no-one songs like you anymore” as submission to the competition "Black hole sun... won’t you come?"

Keep that and Chris Cornell's voice in mind when I wrote this.
