Wednesdays are for Poets
Wednesdays are called hump day
For no particular reason
For those of us working five days
Season after season
Week after week we toil
Marking off the time
Days of the week to spoil
Our free time to rhyme
For poets are we
Loving to pen a verse
And Wednesdays are not free
They make out days adverse
When the words are mine
I must write them down
Tuesday, Wednesday or any other time
Pen to paper, verb to noun
The words flow like water
Not caring for time or day
Inspiration that never falters
Words and sayings may
Be whispered in my ear
Begging to be written down
Feeling like a seer
Wearing a poet's crown
How lovely to be given this
Drive to pen a rhyme
It cannot be dismissed
Lest it be lost in time
For no particular reason
For those of us working five days
Season after season
Week after week we toil
Marking off the time
Days of the week to spoil
Our free time to rhyme
For poets are we
Loving to pen a verse
And Wednesdays are not free
