Final High
Breathing in the smoke
Clouds huffing out of your lungs
Things seem perfect the laughter filling your ears
But then the cough starts
The oxygen needed to function becomes less and less
The world starts to spin and you want to get off
On this high
On the strangling encasing your very being
Heart racing you stumble into the bathroom
Your friend staring at the door
Helpless as your own body tries to kill itself
"maybe you should call your dad."
He's on his way
But the stairs prove to be a daunting task
The world gets fuzzy and no longer able to walk right you stumble
Fuzzier and more distant things become
A numbness taking over you
You hear your friend and mother shouting
You feel the stairs as you half fall down them
But you feel nothing at all
A painless buzz is all that occurs
Everything turns to static as you fade out
Then endless white
Coming back you hear your heart in your ears
Your eyes open but you can't talk, can't move
You see a worried mother,a scared daughter
Help down the stairs is needed until your dad grabs hold of you
You cry like a child and cling on because everything's dizzy and your heart feels as it might burst
Crawling into daddy's bed for comfort
Thinking 'so this is how I died'
Shutting your eyes and falling asleep there is no pain
No sorrow
Just an endless numbness
Awaking you realize it's real
You're still here
It's a funny thing what asthma does to you
You turn into your worst enemy but I promise
Nothing like this will happen again
There is too much to lose, too much to leave behind
It's no longer worth it
Clouds huffing out of your lungs
Things seem perfect the laughter filling your ears
But then the cough starts
The oxygen needed to function becomes less and less
The world starts to spin and you want to get off
On this high
