Calm Waters Not Mine
Drifting far from the shore
a safe harbor wasn’t in sight
tragedy intervened
before things would be put right
The pain was immense in that
I never got to say goodbye
to a woman I thought might be my one
left with deep heavy sighs
Visits out for social gatherings
seeking solace or some saving grace
no embers left of our bond
little comfort in the space
Like a fool placed faith in others
not realizing their focus wasn’t the same
two hearts connected not
these ladies’ wanted terrain
Stormy seas to travel watching
their connections to other guys
misunderstanding kind gestures
nights solo with a heart that cries
To that one of kind filled with beauty
I do realize she would want me to smile
find my way to the shore
hopefully not alone on the isle
a safe harbor wasn’t in sight
tragedy intervened
before things would be put right
The pain was immense in that
I never got to say goodbye
to a woman I thought might be my one
left with deep heavy sighs
Visits out for social gatherings
seeking solace or some saving grace
no embers left of our bond
little comfort in the space
Like a fool placed faith in others
not realizing their focus wasn’t the same
two hearts connected not
these ladies’ wanted terrain
Stormy seas to travel watching
their connections to other guys
misunderstanding kind gestures
nights solo with a heart that cries
To that one of kind filled with beauty
I do realize she would want me to smile
find my way to the shore
hopefully not alone on the isle
