Funeral View

Sitting inside my coffin
Knees tucked to my chest
Comfortably
A steady rock with the wind
Unfearful
More curiosity at the view than anything

The six sides of this wooden vessel
Flat
Sitting upon stacked stones
Teetering on the peak of gnoll

A memory of green rolling until out of sight
Darkening blue clouds overwhelming the light blue sky behind them
The wind, powerful enough to remind me I'm alive

Completely disconnected from the awe of the landscape
Simultaneously never feeling more connected with existence
Even if i can't get the telephone poles out of the peripheral of my memory

A human nautical compass
Balanced from the rocking as the wooden vessel teeters
The only compass rose to grow within the ironic grains of grass

So very green among a sea of countless blades that will not cut
Dancing wild, free, as if no one were there.

Standing will take some balance
Wobbled ankles and steady knees
Man overboard into the healing Earth
As the wooden vessel sails across the waves of the green sea
