Image for the poem STATIC

STATIC

inspired thoughts told over the blue
hopes and desires woven within your dreams
once upon coffee-scented twilights
excited anticipation flowered within souls
spoken together, super imposed faces
morphing in one destination, a haven

we called out our needs and demands
of each other, fed off one another's breath
breathing each other's essence desperate
yet calm in waiting, keep me close
keep me with you always like dawns

you said, tears on cheeks, never leave

then you did, leaving for a sojourn
pulling another's heart's strings
violins played by angels to your ears
I watched the twinkles of rushing waters
admiring the lights yet blanked out
reading poems, prism of colours

rushing through time, watching from afar
one day she didn't return your kiss
your armour cracked and you fell
heart aches as heart watched the wounded
wishing she'd love as I did
and still I loved you well

the line slowed down, the hearts calmer
souls were as birds on the wire
looking over worlds and life lived
history made and diaries written
words slower and more honest
but love was deeper

you left again, this time you didn't look back
you slipped away without a whisper of goodbye
your last words were
I love and need you...honestly you are my love
I sang for you that evening
like I did sometimes

You never heard it...
or did you.
