Darling Rose
My darling rose, you’ve been a cruel lover
How you ended up this way, I cannot help but to wonder
You once ruled over me and shunned my words to focus on those of another
The beauty I buried in proses turned into hollow noise,
my verses meant nothing
Love notes I penned just fell short of your glory
My darling rose, I see you now, crisp and withering
I feel you dig in
a slight rip in my skin
Finding your thorns remains my fondest form of foreplay
I trace your edges not too carefully
Your submission is teasing
My darling rose, allow me to tear those petals to shreds
I’m dying to unveil what lies inside
While my fingertips brush against your stem
nothing between us is complete yet
So, let me test our distance
This is merely a new starting point
My darling rose, you’ve grown so meek lately
To your gardens I shall bring the rain
Downturn while I’m away, you’ll learn to depend on me
as your sunshine... as your everything
Let me cherish you fully
I'll pull the weeds from your bed
and defend your purity
My darling rose, see the efforts I have made?
All things under my thumb have been kept green
I hope you grow into the shape I need
You look frail again as I cull your wild branches
Such a pity, those thorns I once lusted for are weak
A habit that will come back to shame me
Your cold indifference siphons the joy from my heart
To thrive or to die?
The masochism I used to enjoy is no longer pleasurable it seems
My darling rose, exploring my dominance was fun for a while
Inflicted nicks and bites,
simply content to watch you bleed
Now I sense no excitement just boredom and greed
Was I too late or is this union worthy enough to save?
Alas, I shall return my dearest to the dirt and hope to see her next spring
My darling rose, find solace in your beauty sleep
How you ended up this way, I cannot help but to wonder
You once ruled over me and shunned my words to focus on those of another
The beauty I buried in proses turned into hollow noise,
