His dad wouldnt let him keep Jims poster on his room wall, so he hung it in the back of his closet ... after his dad left he just kept it there ... when we hung out, we used to joke 'so what are we getting for jim(delvery, takeout etc...)'

Especially when there's three in a type of succession.... Jimi , Janice, Jim... @ 27..
Ty for reading, Ru. Your insights were lovely and I utterly appreciate them.. However, seems the consensus is this piece isn't winning any competitions, though..lmao. 😂
It's a hit or a miss sometimes..... 🤷🏻♀️
I enjoyed it, that's all that matters!
Much love and respect

I didn't mean the short comment to be a slight. The poem is not shite, it's beautifully written and I don't know the particulars of the comp.

I don't feel slighted, it's aok... really! ... you were subdued, I guess then. I just wanted you to know that I am OK with you not feeling 💯 of what I do. I meant no offense... truly. I guess that (I) sounded unappreciative or inappropriate and I didn't mean that either.... 🙏
I will stop digging my hole now!

Re: Re. to feast of a roaring light
Ha! I had the original title for this poem
"No one here gets out alive" but thought it might be too hokey .. because of the biography book title... (I loved it.) I also read John Densmore's book Riders On The Storm and Jim's poetry books , "Wilderness" and "The American Night"... all of that was years ago though. I discovered my love for The Doors in high school... and love endured.
I have been listening to different albums and YouTube clips since the competition was posted... just figuring out what I wanted to write.
That live Atlanta concert is classic... *giggles.....
I love the antics, it admit it!
Yeah, Manzarek had the best spin on him outside of Pam... star crossed, those two.
Thank you for feeling this poem, and the generous list add, my friend. It's like it's you and me only, who probably feel that way! ..hahaha.. 😂
...I thoroughly enjoyed your thoughtful comments, suggestions and insights....
Much love and respect,

Oh Bv ... I love this ... the thin lines make the cadence relentless ... like he was ... full of ripe phrases ... "dusty jewels" for one ... touches on so much of this artist who burned out too soon ... you captured his essence ... good luck ...
P.S. I have always been a Doors fan ... visited Morrison's grave during one my many visits to Paris ...

Ohh visiting his grave @ Père Lachaise Cemetery is a bucket list item of mine!... I'm so happy you had a chance to pay respects and see it in person. Ty so much for your amazingly kind comments, LilD. I enjoyed writing this one a lot because I did it over a pretty big stretch of time, just listening to the music until I felt ready to write, which is a unique and much different way for me to approach it. I usually don't 'marinade'.... haha...
I appreciate you, the list add and you taking the time, my friend!

You are most welcome ... the grave visit was memorable ... I love listening to Riders on the Storm ... the sound of the rain on pavement ... the thunderclaps ... so moving ...

Being in FL, where it rains almost daily starting sometime in May (even as early as April) and lasting until Oct /Nov.... I have had many days with the thunder and lightning crashing, raining cats and dogs with Riders on the Storm popping up on my "Potential power outage Playlist".... hahaha....

Re. to feast of a roaring light
Don't have sorrow in your heart over me, Blue, save it for someone who's worth it. I was gonna say about the Americans. One particular guy got a little over enthusiastic there in Paris & actually jumped the metal barrier protecting Jim Morrison's grave. He did a quick double left, right with his head to check for security & then lept over, holding a printed lyric sheet of "Light My Fire" a famous Doors hit as you know. He posed for photos by the edge of the grave & placed the lyrics upon it. Made my day even more memorable than it might otherwise have been. Incidently, his grave took ages to find but it was worth it & his was by far the most popular. I felt closer to Jim after that. Can't explain why but I felt I'd met him. My daughter was with me also that day. 😊

An exultant hallelujah celebration of what a man can become if he allows himself to expand in mind and being. The pure energy here takes me on a journey into a guru who knows the ways of truth and light and brings his followers along his golden path. These words speak of a woman who loves men to rise and be all their potential can make them. Love where this took me and the wonder it instilled in my heart.

You really captured the essence of Morrison with this piece here. He was so many things, so ahead of his time.
Best of luck in the comp, but I think you really deserve the trophy for this.
Excellent work.
