Author's Note
This morning , for the first time, I listened to Peter Gabriel's "Love To Be Loved." I was going to move to the next song because I wanted to sing-along. I am so glad that I chose instead to listen. It was to me a revelation. We talk all the time about our universal desire to be loved. What is of equal importance is our desire to be needed. To know that our existence makes some impact. I think this applies to all ages but especially it touches the young and the elderly. In this time of pandemic it is so easy to feel invalid. Make others feel useful. Thank you Mr. Gabriel

Interesting. I wrote 2 Senryus today, I wasn't sure about posting but I a bothered by something I see in DUP. You writing this made me think of what I wrote. I like this.

Thank you very much, Remy. Did you post yours? The Haiku/Senryu formats are two of my favorites. I enjoy the challenge of delivering a profound message with an economy of words.
I wrote a tanka, well, 3 tankas on 1 poem. I will probably post the others but later on. If you've got time I linked the 3 tankas.

This concept hits deep.... independence is so revered.... to make someone else feel needed means we have to be willing to be "needy", and we sure as heck don't like that kind of vulnerability, do we?! Hence, the erosion of community...

You understand me so well and I am ecstatic that you were touched by this piece . It is hella hard to admit that we need help. One of my most favorite song that touched on this theme is "Lean On Me" both the inspiring Bill Wither's version and the exciting Club Nouveau version. I try to seek advice from my elderly parents. Even though I could get the same advice elsewhere, I want them to know that they are still needed in my life.
I implicitly agree with you that our propensity to not need or depend on anyone to live our lives is a major contributor to the erosion of our families as well as our community. You're awesome personified ❣️❣️
