Summons time
Confronts it
-one might say, provokes it-
and, corners it
Has it where he wants it

Relentless counting ensues
His years, days, his moments

About the years
he already knows
embarks on the impossible
-as if they never existed-
nor any days can he find
 He lost them all
like all the bets he ever made

One or two
or maybe three moments
he counted
drawing lines in the thin air
of this distant stare
of that ever absent stare
