Blackbird

Annoyingly, as beautiful as the Blackbird sings
She sings at the wrong time of the night
It's early am, like 4 or 5
The Sun's up now and it's gone bright.

How am I supposed to sleep as the Blackbird wakes?
Yes, it's nice of her to serenade me
But I want to close my eyes and dream
Deep, dark to set my brain free.

Every morning she proudly sings
Her voice a delight to be heard
But outside my window at 4.30am
And non stop! It's bloody absurd!

Then comes daylight and Magpies!
Out hustling as they usually do
The early bird gets the worm?
Well now I know thats true.

The crack in the curtains is just enough
To allow the Sun to illuminate my room
Moving around as the Sun rises higher
Making the flowers in my garden bloom.

My eyes are crippled by this daylight
They are heavy and just want to sleep
The Blackbird singing is nice but annoying
Now my alarm is starting to bleep!

Might as well get up and face the day
Might as well go have a shower
Little Miss Blackbird is well on her way
But me? I've got very little power...
