Second Guess

I want to love you,
It feels very easy and
It comes naturally.
No I'm being serious
I want you against my stomach
No, I want you
Picking the sunflower seeds off
In the summertime
No, I want you
Silently shouting over our past
Boiling the soup
Interested in the patterns the raindrops make on the window,
We listen to your CDs in your car
We debate at what moment a soul is provided to an embryo,
No, I want you.
I want you in the poppy fields
I scratch my nose against your shoulder, itchy
I hold your hand
Something I rarely do with other people;
No, I want you
On the 30th floor
In unused office space,
In the darkened windowlight.
On the river,
Watching the barges pass,
No, I want you.
And others, if they'd like to come along too.
