Society Before & During Lockdown
Do we really care about what we care about?
Or do we all just plod along?
Eyes wide open but with no real vision
Seeing nothing clearly as the day goes on.
Discarded intentions decaying daily
As we shuffle from one thought to another,
Many distractions that change our paths
From day one as we depart from our Mother.
Ignorant to the needs of the many
Cos were all focused on our own lives,
Blinded by an ignorant society
Man attacking Man with bloodied knives.
City life is like being in a rugby scrum
But not sporting in any way
To many ears, to many eyes
So many with to much to say.
The scar on this city is a gaping wound
Its civilians are all remote controlled,
Nobody talks and nobody cares any more
Conditioned to do as they're told.
This Government's got its eye on us
It know where I am and where I've been?
Cameras strip me of my privacy
Everywhere I go I am seen.
We're all treated with unjust suspicion
Governments are terrified of fraud,
Labelled we are, tarred with the same stick
Kept in check just incase we explode.
Under the watchful eye of the crown
We all limbo under the poverty line,
No chance to progress, the struggles real
No government with no lifeline.
Do we really care about our brotherly man?
Isn't everyone in competition?
Noses in the air of the wealthy or rich
Whilst the homeless on the street sign petitions.
The upper class looking down their noses at us
As they head stand their way through their life
A struggling Mother feeds her kids from a food bank,
As an MP's expenses could change all their lives!
£30,000 for taxi's and food?
£80,000 more to attend worthless meetings
And yet the government suspects all of us?
As they rifle through our private proceedings.
Do we really care about what we care about?
Does it really matter? We have no voice....
No one listens to what we have to say
Cos we have no say, we have no choice!
We are observed and studied daily
Under the spotlight on a daily basis,
Our freedom has now been restricted
Our statutory rights now no longer exist.
Freedom now comes with a price tag
And it's way out of reach for most,
Every time we think we're "getting there"
Our Government moves the goal posts.
Fresh air is now all we can claim for free
But it's not as fresh as it once was,
It's clogged up! Polluted with smog
So even that leaves us at a loss.
Personally I hate living in Edinburgh
It's just full of junkies and crime
People who share nothing with society
Except fights and arguments all the time.
Some should have been sent to the army
They lay around all day with no motivation,
All junkies do is feed of of others
Then complain about deprivation?
Sitting outside every Tesco
Sitting at every single cash machine,
Making me feel guilty cos I work my ass off
Hand stretched out making sure they are seen.
Why cant the Council offer solace?
Before they were poor some contributed,
Many just need structure and support
Someone to listen, but instead they feel muted.
Governments can help rebuild many lives
They could take away all of their stress,
Giving them the chance to rebuild their lives
Bringing to many happiness.
Dont leave it to us for we struggle too
As do so many other people,
Working or not the struggles real
In this were now all very equal.
Just take me out of this city
Let me start all over again,
I'd change my life in so many ways
And my days would never be the same.......
Or do we all just plod along?
Eyes wide open but with no real vision
Seeing nothing clearly as the day goes on.
