Almost 06:00 AM
it’s almost 06:00 AM
and sections of my blinds
are sticking out
like limbs in a plague cart
and my alarm is due
to start warbling
in eleven minutes
no doubt much less
by the time I've finished this
and I wish I could tell you
something profound
as I look at my water carafe
and think about peeling off
the sticker declaring it
supermarket’s own
as if without that bell of shame
I might pretend it's one
the Queen would have her butler pour
it’s almost 06:00 AM

Now that I've used three exclamation marks, and you know I'm truly serious about my excitement of this...
this is one of those poems that on the surface doesn't seem like it's about much at all. But it allows the reader to inject themselves in there and feel all the feels. well done. supremely well done.

I wrote this one for a competition which asked that you essentially write a poem on the spot. I was sitting on my bed at the time and decided to go for the Charles Bukowski method, of describing my everyday life/surroundings and infusing them with a particular mood.

What a GREAT morning poem on the fly! That first stanza - UGH! Excellent imagery, and exactly how I felt when my former cat used to break the blinds! LOL!

I love how the the simple daily things of our routine... that one deep dives in a vivid mind-dissection , jhowever inspidly straight . or mysteriously serpentine it runs... engaging write & esp. loved the first stanza in descripts, the second stanza in that acridly secreting wait or feel.. unliking yet anticipating that alarm call.. almost in the title & that count down gives an altogether the choas & existential layers that one swims drowns in each tym.. yet the eventual breathing in .. in hope & light.. as is your lucid versings .. thanks for the read . write on :)
