Football fans have lost a superstar
But as they say: a legend never dies

For those of us who grew up watching him
We were always amazed at his skills
He was that DAMn good
No matter what jersey he played in

That run back in ’86 was incredible
When they dubbed it “The Hand of God”
And then only four minutes later
We got The Goal of the Century

He gave us little guys hope
He inspired another generation
He had an illustrious career
That even today’s best call him the greatest

Go on and cry for him Argentina
From Barcelona and Sevilla
To Napoli and all the way to La Boca
Because tonight La Bombonera only shines one light
