An Abandoned Tomorrow
"I am forever," is what he said,
lost in a dream he never had.
Sitting up in a diamond filled sky,
though something so good can often be bad.
The dreams he chased were nightmares instead,
but he could not tell, it seemed so real.
The flames in his eyes are now smoky and grey,
he'll often touch just to feel.
Looking back on a time when the sky was the limit,
And all of the stars seemed within our reach.
Now although we can fly, the stars are burnt out,
with nothing left to learn or teach.
Times have changed, we have drifted away,
this glass we hold is no longer full.
We'll try again tomorrow is what we said,
but we forgot to start when we heard go.
lost in a dream he never had.
