Trust me...
I will not abandon you
like other people have
done in the past
leaving you an orphan
That will never happen
to you again
Love me...
that's all I ask of you
and yet I know you do
much more than I deserve
still I'm sure...
that is all you want from me
and you're so welcome to
all the love I have
inside my heart
Come play....
We'll toss a ball
or chase a squirrel
across the lawn
and as you age
I want you to know
I couldn't even imagine
life without you for
You are the bright spot

It’s a beautiful thing when love is unconditional. While I know it exists I haven’t truly felt it since my horse died. She was a skittish beast but a tonic every time I needed her. Your poem has allowed me to remember that relationship with gratitude and I’m grateful. Lovely write. H🌷

Your message really moved me. Thank you for your kind words. I know exactly what you mean when you said you needed him. The only way I have been able to recover from the loss of a pet is to go to the shelter and take home another one to love. The unconditional love pet's give us is amazing
