The basic pattern
                            befalls
wit little/no        warning,
that the whole
might not         equal
the sum of it's     p  a  r  t s.

How'ever, we can take comfort in
that this not
 the-measure-of-the-manly-men
among   us.

(Good graces! No!)
                            ***
in lying in the gutter,  enjoying the
relief coolness of the low'blow flow of
life giving (lives saved, lives denied) waters
we are bound to work our gratitude
fervently as I count the stars that have
fallen out of sight (in to blind), but
such
is  a tight-bound usuality in the transient,
existential features of the "no fault" ego,
nevertheless falling, hidden from the
general public being preyed upon by
steel slick  stiletto hucksters
 palming off their
Aceite de Serpiente
with undue popular demand.

I don't know where to turn as the options are
nothing or death,
(unless, of course, they happen to be
                synonymous)**
