Among the Fallen Angels

As she lay there, radiant in heavenly beauty, an angel on earth for me to embrace, I remembered my path to get to this moment. Love had been rough recently, and Sharron, my ex-wife, had taken the kids. I had previously tried to slit my wrists with the razors held in my closet, yet terminated the idea when I realized that life wasn’t meant for death. I decided that love would keep me grounded, and I found a young lady online who would love me back. Her name was Emily, and we met at a fancy restaurant downtown. The night was incredible, and I found the love that I lacked, yet needed desperately. I remember a phrase that my father told me when I was younger, “Son, loving people live in a loving world. Hostile people live in a hostile world.” These words stuck with me as I would grow older, and I never felt such a loving world as I did that night. As Emily and I discussed hobbies, interests, and our plans for the future, I forgot the past for a moment, and looked at my future in her eyes. I saw our house, our kids, and our memories in her gaze, and I knew she was the one. Emily and I wrapped up our dinner, and began to head home. As we drove down the highway back to her apartment, the city skyline had never looked so beautiful. Emily made me see the joy in life, something I realized I had never seen before. I dropped her off and exhaled. A perfect success of a date, and we both wanted another one. I drove home constantly thinking about my future with Emily, and I needed a way to celebrate my new path. As I navigated towards my house, I saw a woman in an alleyway. I needed a way to party, and she fit the description. “20 dollars for a hand, $30 for oral,” she said eagerly. I agreed, handed her the money, and she got in the car. As I drove to a nearby abandoned parking lot, I forgot the future and enjoyed the present. This was the best $30 I had ever spent, and I enjoyed every single second of sensation. Other men were in the parking lot enjoying the same pleasures of life, and together we felt at peace. Then, everything turned south. The police showed up to the parking lot and made everyone get out of their vehicles. Shit! Fuck! Shit! I was in deep trouble, and had to think fast. I pulled up my pants, and realized any of my attempts would be worthless. I left the car with the hooker, and saw my life flash before my eyes. Out of nowhere, all the hookers opened fire on the cops, prepared for this scenario ahead of time. However, they were no match for the overfunded police force. As the hookers fell lifeless towards the ground, I was motionless with my hands above my head, the rest of my life ruined by one decision. As they put their handcuffs on me, I lay incapacitated among the fallen angels.

Author's Note
Among the Fallen Angels is a mastery of literature, and one of John's masterpieces through the years. He provides social commentary, a quest for love, and a reason for life in an action packed short story. John's inspiration came from the troubles facing our nation, and the need for love in the past, present, and future. I suggest you re-read this work of literature to fully embrace the beauty of the words, the meaning behind the story, and the importance of love. John has always put love above all, no matter age, gender, or race. He hopes you enjoy, and that one day you may rest among the fallen angels.
