Love

My perspective on love is that it is always painful.
I have loved and lost,
Fought and given up.
I have focused on my trauma as if it were the reason,
I was unable to grow as a man.
Spent a few years lonely and bitter,
Thinking love was not for me.
Wondering if this time I was truly broken.
All of this has changed since you came along
And I wonder if I am taking this too far
But I have never fallen so deep into a pair of eyes
So eager to welcome me home.
