The Man With The Plan

He said I have a plan
and I'm your man
so listen closely
because I want you
to help me
 as best you can
there is a movie theatre
that sits down town
me and a buddy
are planning to hit

Here's where the three of us
will hide he showed me
taking me aside
we'll wait here
until it's time to slip inside
then we're gonna
rob them blind

So he said that
it was our secret
keep my lips closed tight
for me not to worry
everything would be alright
so I played along
to keep the peace
but I knew someone
should tell the police

I stood infront of the mirror
staring at my clothes
when my mother appeared
out of nowhere
she said I shouldn't
be dressing down
I looked in the mirror
I swear I saw a clown

And I told my mother
that we needed to talk
I was scared if the three
of us were caught
none of us would walk
I could tell she was
getting ready for work
still she listened to me
when I told her about
the planned robbery
she said this is a case
for the local police

We need to let the cops know
so they can get everything
down on paper
and put a stop to
the robbery
I told her that's true
and I was only playing along
that I really didn't want
to do anything wrong

Mother said I did nothing
that you could call wrong
so she understood
why I had played along
Then I told her
not to tell anyone
it was I who let
the cat out of the bag
because if my man
found out I'd sure be dead

And I woke up from this dream
with such a feeling of dread
all kinds of weird thoughts
were running through my head
So I got out of bed
it was the middle of the night
still I put on some coffee
knowing things would be alright
