Haven
Haven
I would take your hands and gently kiss your
Fingers one by one. I would stroke your tired
Brow and draw you to my long embrace. I hold
You in my mind. The sun, streaming through your
Corkscrew hair, gleams red highlights for ever.
You live in sunlight where you belong,
Amid dreams and birdsong. You are safe. You are
Safe. You are cherished in your tranquil haven.
Serene and loved in your ancient world you
Are my queen and guardian of my lost soul.
We walk on seashores toward our sunset
Holding hands along smooth sand our footprints
Entwined and then erased by the running
Surf. Alone, but never lonely, we stand
Unmoved, unfettered, free to breath as one.
