daffodils of regret
gentle come gently
I can't take the force of you
sleepy child of the winds
smile at the dawn and usher in the day
so quietly I look to the heavens
he says let us begin again
I'm on an introspective journey
looking in to find me
there are many corridors in this maze
I call out a lonely hello
where have I gone and who is this person who stands in my place?
she guards the gates
I hear my voice but she speaks instead
somewhere inside I reside
restless and anxious for my release
kiss the skies little one
and awaken the sleeping giants
daffodils of regret bloom in my inner garden
I look at their faces with shame
with memories of missteps
so I retrace my path
to start where I left off
there will be no shortcuts
I will have to face the pain
if I want to find my soul again
