Starlight On The Rails

Scraggled verisimilar verse
Words weave
                                a roric drenched field
Until sun’s teeth gnaw the fruit core raw:
Branch trembles after bird has flown.

Night lights flame, frame
Portrait of lonely passenger
Reading a paper back on plumed train.
Distraction carriage, each platform a stage,
Actors skitter o’er ever shrinking rails
Lights – Camera – Action
Bit part couching for Brief Encounter
& we all know how that ended.
I know my destination.

In nation of eternal imagination
Fiction borders as bordellos selling
Spilt flesh sailing inside broken bottles,
Drinking Molotov cocktails to
Ignite the desengano inside.
Building maps from coffins and cradles;
It’s all made up
Inner-self we’re painting.

Something like cadaver in the rain
Umbrella traffic parts static in the air,
Sun stands still upon brow of storm
Awaits viridian after light of day,
Solemn symphony strings
Reality at twenty-four frames a second.

The grave will be green.
The cicadas singing
Caress this weeping.
