a kiss upon...

a surprise
when I opened my eyes
and your pen had graced my space.
Oh I feel for you
as your eyes were heavy, so late.
what more could I do to compensate
but to fill them with words and words,
may they be heard.
My Grace the quality of my verse
does lack this morn,
I plea ye, lack the scorn.
the imagery of you being part of a blanket
that in this chill of night
with the air so still
I picture your body as my cloak
such a vivid image my mind has took.
never before have I read such pretty a word.
warm is all that could be felt
as winter you did melt.
I trust that as you dropped your pen
and the ink within your quill has drained
the sleep man came and your journey to dream land
was close at hand.
Did the pillow too, find your head? and the black of cat's
warmth did it protruded from where he sat.
to see you My Lady, with peace upon your face,
in your quarters, with only the flicker of a candle's wick
to gaze upon you
standing at the bed's end
chill bumps throughout my body does send. and once again..
the image of the human blanket as it warms
to climb upon you
slide against your skin
true a whimsical vision
and a sin.
May your day
come as it may,
and the days to come be more of play
times for you to make gay.
the hours grow as to what seem short
and the light flickers as it moves into dark
the firefly and the dragon flies too
images of summer's mark
all have heard autumn's call
retreating to defend
as the brother of the tree forms now the walls
harbor in safety they all seek.
winter is not for the mild and meek.
I did wake to find your words that please
yet my eyes I feel need a moment more
of sweet sleep and rest
may as before I so prayed
god's speed as you make your way
enjoy the wonders of today...
a kiss to you upon your forehead, I doth lay.
