Inner City Prison Of The Mind
Dark alleys are the best spot
for a late night smoke,
rats scurry past and the city
sounds of speeding cars,
trains and ambulances.
Light pollution so no stars
and barely a moon.
Headlights create shadows
that don't stick around long,
they race across the wall.
Urban Idols, Allegory of The Cave
in a modern apocalyptic way.
Everything is an illusion, there's
so much more then this dark alley
and cigarette yet it feels like home,
why bother to look for more.
Chained.
Fuck.

Don’t hear much Plato referenced on here! Is it all illusion, merely shadows on the wall leaving hints for future events. Does education put things into your head or does it take them out? Maybe all knowledge is in at birth. Some people are better at bringing it out than others. Ok, I’m weird... great write Nick. 🌹🌹❤️

The moment I wrote the part about the headlight shadows, I was transported to that cave.
The urban and suburban life is an illusion.
Education can be a tool for creating greatness and stifling it.
I never finished 9th grade.
yet I run my own little business.
Knowledge is passed down like DNA, maybe who knows but
I think were born with a path and yes we can choose our own way down it, but even with all the twists from choice you will end up where you were supposed to. Or not. ❤ Thank you Anvilllan

You prove my point my love! You were born to succeed! Your grasp of reality, both the light and dark side is exceptional. I like the dark especially. It might be an interesting contest to see who could out “dark” who?🌹🌹🙏

Dear N,
This write had a very noir aspect for me. I very much enjoyed this. I half expected to see Johnny Kelly peer around the corner, cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth and popped collar on his trench coat.
Aside from that there was a gravitational pull for me and the vast beauty of night time that most rarely see but when you do the shadows cast illusions, or do they? Fantastic write. H🌷

That you can see the beauty of your situation despite the darkness surrounding it is a true gift, Nikki. Where would we be without your poetry sharing that gift? Chains rust, Girl.
