Not My World
I've entered a whole new world
Of perfectly mowed lawns
Sandy beaches
And never ending sunsets
People dressed in clothes way too expensive for me
I stand out
I don't belong
But I'm here with my friend
And she fits right in
So I receive fake smiles and happy voices....until they think I'm out of earshot
I've entered a whole new world
Where everyone owns boats and kayaks and jet skis
They keep these novelties at their 'camps'
Or more accurately--a second home next to a lake
I want to laugh at their lavish lifestyle
So blissfully unaware of their arrogance

It really is an alternate universe where self image is prioritized higher than anything else.

I’ve been in the world you describe. It can be a diffIcult world to experience, even when we’re laughing at the arrogance. Too often, I want to change those people. Then I remember where and to whom I belong and all is well again.

I feel very far away from this world as well. Much different than such vanity. Awesome poem. I really enjoyed this.

No matter the money or extravagance they show, they still may be struggling. Many things we can't see. Being the best you is all you can do.
