Heart
They etched it out so perfectly,
Asymmetric and pristine,
With a set of curves,
Two vertices,
And their Initials underneath.
Weather worn
Through sun and storm,
They’d pray for better days,
While a symbol of their love
Survives,
They are divided in malaise.
Incorrigibly,
A budding love
Sown of sweet intentions,
Sours as the spoil settles,
Soaking vinegars
In fallowed soils.
To this day we’ll never know
The details of their stories,
Except that long ago they shared
A moment,
Beneath a hemlock florae.
