shadow dreams

Shadows dance around me,
I look all around.
I see nothing but darkness,
a sickening black fear.
I know that it's a dream,
I feel small and cold.
I see my fate,
I feel my death.
The same thing every night,
Why can't I change it?
I go through the motions,
I go through the pain of it all.
Watching everything
with clear details,
watching it all fly by me.
I see him again and again,
I feel his touch over and over.
my heart quickens
with each passing second,
My life shortens
with each night.
I watch helplessly
as my future slips away,
My freedom leaves me each night.
getting closer and
closer to my future,
I move farther and
farther away from my dreams.
My friends are moving
away from me slowly,
I know that eventually
I will be alone.
Left to my own life,
left to my dream.
lost to the pain
of this sick twisted reality.
For now though I will stand here and watch.
I will stand here surrounded by these shadows.
I will stand here,
watching my own life disintegrate before my eyes.
maybe tomorrow night will be different.
