Anything
Believing unable
to be in my own skin
unwelcome sensation
where I begin
Grabbing onto anything
to ease anxiety
unwilling to face
uncertainty
Ambiguity of the present
far too much to bear
escape, my solution
protection I wear
Always seeking something else
numbing existence
observer of the world
yet only from a distance
Viability halted
far too long ago
dodging reality
withdraw is all I know
to be in my own skin
unwelcome sensation
where I begin
Grabbing onto anything
to ease anxiety
unwilling to face
uncertainty
Ambiguity of the present
far too much to bear
escape, my solution
protection I wear
Always seeking something else
numbing existence
observer of the world
yet only from a distance
Viability halted
far too long ago
dodging reality
withdraw is all I know

It's good to see you back, Mel! This is indicative of your classic rhyme scheme and ability to convey those circumstances you so often deal with personally in such a relatable way.

Ahavati.
I thank you as always. I have not been writing much but always feel welcome when I do.

Thank you Mirelle. You are not alone. While sad that you relate also glad. I am not cryptic in my writing. I say what I feel because that is what works for me. I find it cathartic. Bless you dear😘

I loved how you kept this "in general". I too like to write poems like that.

Hi Mel. The sensitivity and palpable emotion of this write translates well through your gentle disbursement of line, stanza and subtle syllabic harmony. Beautifully rendered and very relatable.

This resonated. You expressed the conflict quite well numbness verus pain/anxiety.
Identify and hopefully overcome.
