caring not
whether you rise
or whether you rot
i yield to zero compromise
immorality:
making sure
down in the dirt
you merit no cure
i heap contempt upon your hurt
morality:

Hey, Brother!
Hearing you for the first time in over 60 days is a morning wind on sunlit mountains. I will call it the DE-extinction (or the distinction) of Tallen. Welcome back.
My trilogy has only two distinctions, because amorality (turning a blind eye) is passive consent (as in Floyd's strangulation) -- and to him that knows to do good and does it not...
On the other hand, your observation is spot-on truthful with regard to empathy because a lack of compassion fills the bucket of immorality as much as empathy drains it dry.

I will gather all the tears into my tear bottles:
tears for the souls of black folk (W.E.B. Du Bois, 1903);
tears for the souls of empathetic white souls (John Howard Griffin, 1961);
tears for black souls who know not that they are enslavers of love (Angela Thompsell, 2018);
tears for white folk who know not that they are enslavers of hate (Paul Craig Roberts, 2019).
My own tears are in there too -- and now yours...
