I think there's about 5 million in the GIG economy in the U.K. ... a indictment of British 'civilisation' if ever there was one.
Have also just had my first experience of compulsory wearing of a mask in order to be allowed to enter a supermarket. Fortunately my wife, being a dab hand at all things textile, quickly whipped up a 'mask' last night, made from an old table-napkin and so I went shopping in Lidl looking like a cross between the lone-ranger and a highwayman - did wonders for my self-esteem whilst simultaneously trashing the sense of disempowerment triggered by dictatorial decrees.
