Image for the poem Darklings

Darklings

indigo silence so deafening I retreat
down the black corridor
entering my twilight
sleeping a thousand years
awaking to the wisdom of pain
the great conduit and teacher
prophesying the unbecoming

sideways smiles lies the scorned
children of the file
Nephilim...darklings
persuading the dawn
to shine on my face no more

elitist privy to the hidden artifacts
secret society of the Rephaite
the fallen angels
who took mortal woman
to perpetuate their crime
to further the great rebellion
their offspring flaunt--
their hatred of the creator

scarlet shame a halfling I may be
a mixed-race in immortal standing
dark and light confoundment
perpetuating the sins of my fathers
who with a black conscience
took the daughters of Eve
sewing the tares to choke out the wheat

insidious nature calls to me
genetically altered to heed---

the song of the damned
