My Anchor
I rarely talk, or write
About you
In my poetry,
For you are real
And not illusion.
You are not a thing
Of my imaginings,
That I can easily weave
Into words and pen down
To make it believable.
You are my reality,
Where more than half
Of my existence in life
Revolves around you,
Where all of my dreams
Are entwined with yours.
I can't imagine life, without you,
Or how I would have cope with it
All these years, if you weren't there
Beside me, to support me in everything.
You are my anchor,
That keeps my feet on solid ground,
That keeps my head above water
When I'm about to drown in its confusion.
I am grateful to God,
For giving you to me.
Despite our many differences
And the challenges we met along the way,
We were able to overcome them.
Our life together is not a bed of roses.
There were pitfalls, heart aches and tears,
But the laughter and happiness we found outweighs the undesirables.
We have grown together,
And our love has ripened and matured.
It is sweeter, and gets better with time
As we grow older with the passing of the years before us.
