a stoic...your pride rose
as wave after wave pain assaulted you
no tears kiss your face

I cried instead feeling helpless

bitter regrets held fast
your demeanor cracked
the storm clouds build
the thunder rolled

I saw it coming your undoing
farther and farther you fell
into a deep well of despair
then one day you slip away

inside the madness you shelter
your only respite
there your psyche created alternate realities
ones you could live with

within your hurt you reside permanently
never to come back to me again
