zen

cherish the day and all her rich undertones
little love notes lilt on the wind
on a beautiful journey of discovery
to the secret spaces only she understands

first I travel across the grassy plains
decorated with wildflowers
they smile up at the sun
as I pass they call out a cheerful hello

then to the lazy river
who chants a mantra of tranquility
as waters bubble over her rocks

high onto the tree tops
where the denizens commune with mother sky
their branches raised in a lovely hallelujah to the heavens

far and wide in the desert glittering as I go
my burdens unfurl
as my spirit soars

deep under the vast ocean
the seas rage to life
I am awash with feeling by its greatness

then return to my own garden
the day saves her favor for last
shadow and light dances
the sun highlights its beauty

zen has gifted me...I'm home
