their balding eyes ©️

every day-

they survey

the sky

the ground

and

the land all around

secret societal protectors
that feast upon
desiccated entrils
bones and marrow
of recently departed critters-

from vermin insects and vectors

they are the dark interceptors
and scraggly dispatchers
of natures creatures-
that have gone away to their maker

on Shannon Ridge
their band is found
natures undertakers-
soaring on thermals above the ground
gracefully they climb and dive-
then perilously swoop down

scouring the ground

casting spells with balding eyes
that lock their scents
on deathly sights

circling

jostling

now they dive

one by one
Komma Kazi’s in flight
swooping
bending
banking left and right

over the vineyards
and through the trees
riding the wind-

rockets-that think and see

the Raven Coven
carefully locks in
on their telepathy

tracking them scrupulously
these are the black raiders
led by Mad Max
a most brilliant Raven

that knows how to track
the vultures inconspicuously
floating in disorganized moves
that the vultures don’t see

then suddenly it begins
a pitch dive into the wind
vultures bank left and right
confusing the Ravens sneak attack

carefully they soar
through the vineyards so low
confusing Sparrows and Crows
in the Ravens unique sneak
that few see-
Vultures now bob and weave
below-
through the oaken canopy
of this dogfight show

Ravens screaming mightily
frustrated in the aerial haze
as they lose their way in the maze
Mad Max fails today

suddenly
the treasure is found
a weeek old corpse of a Coyote
that drowned
and the Shannon Ridge band
dances around
on his bones
carefully laid down

upon the hallowed ground
for all to eat-
